Bridging the lush ambiance of dreamy synth-wave and the vibrant pulse of nightlife with the expressive melodies and vocal styling of iconic American and European pop music, ShyBoy’s new LP His Royal Shyness unfolds effortlessly around stories of attraction, emotion, isolation, and connection. The ensuing sound pulls the audience into big city penthouses, down-low darkrooms, and small-town back alleys; on an adventure where the thin line between high-stakes love and low-rent lust reveals our innermost desires.

His Royal Shyness kicks off with the sparkling energy of the nu-disco infused opening track “Sweet Release,” setting the tone for the album’s effortless mix of dance, R&B, and alternative sounds. The sleek and stylish “Bedroom Secrets” sways hypnotically between icy keyboards and soulful vocals, sliding us from the bedroom to the dance floor and back again. The pulsating synth-pop fantasy “Sex Doll” is propelled by ShyBoy’s playful performance, highlighting his innate lyricism and fluid vocal range. The sultry and seductive “Bad Thoughts” captures glistening main-stage energy while cruising through the shadowy hallways that lead to the backroom.

ShyBoy is the music composer for Bryan Fuller's Shudder/AMC documentary series Queer For Fear: The History Of Queer Horror (nominated for Outstanding Documentary by the 2023 GLAAD Media Awards). Several songs from His Royal Shyness are featured in the show, including the main title “Backroom,” described by Fuller as a song that “evokes dimly lit dance floors of a different kind” and World of Wonder as “a gritty masterpiece.”

Songs by ShyBoy have been featured in RuPaul’s Drag Race, America’s Next Top Model, the CW’s Dynasty, and more. He’s collaborated with an array of artists, including the Emmy-winning RuPaul; hip-hop artist SlimKid3 (The Pharcyde); EDM DJ Darude; Grammy-nominated songwriter Wendy Waldman; writer/producer Bryan Fuller (Hannibal); and Emmy, Grammy, and Tony-winning songwriter Allee Willis.
